For the first time, the compensation funds will pay a 13th old-age pension in December 2026, on top of that month's pension. It is worth one twelfth of the old-age pensions paid during the year.
If you receive an old-age pension on 1 December, it is paid automatically: there is nothing to apply for. Be wary of any call or email asking for your bank details to "release" it.
Your new premium arrives by post this autumn. To switch insurer on 1 January, your cancellation must be received before 30 November, by registered letter. Comparing takes ten minutes and can save several hundred francs a year.
The Federal Housing Office keeps the reference interest rate for rents at 1.25%, where it has been since September 2025.
