Kimberly's tip: don't sign too fast

A CHF 5,000 offer looks great when you arrive. But in Switzerland, it can be low for your job and region. And two offers with the same salary can differ by thousands of francs in pension.

What it means for you

Before the interview, look up the median salary for your job on Salarium. Before signing, ask whether the pension plan (2nd pillar) only covers the legal minimum. On your CV: a Swiss phone number.

Your new premium arrives by post this autumn. To switch insurer on 1 January, your cancellation must be received before 30 November, by registered letter. Comparing takes ten minutes and can save several hundred francs a year.

Rents: the reference rate stays at 1.25%

The Federal Housing Office keeps the reference interest rate for rents at 1.25%, where it has been since September 2025.

What it means for you

Since the rate has not moved, it allows neither your landlord to raise the rent nor you to ask for a reduction on that basis. Next publication in early December.
